Handmade with love by Fern Deininger in Portland, Oregon
I’ve been making fish dishes for over four years and experimenting with pottery for over ten. The Fish Dish is the culmination of my love for cooking, hosting, fishing, playing with mud, and creating. I hope my fish remind you to delight in the silliest of your interests in life.

The Fish Dish is my creative outlet for a lifelong love of the weird, wonderful, and silly-looking world of fish. Making them gives me a chance to play, be curious, and escape the seriousness of adulthood.

From my table to yours
My love for fish dishes began during the pandemic, when I found myself daydreaming about gathering around the table with all the friends I couldn’t see. I started collecting fish-shaped plates to bring a little more whimsy to my kitchen, and before long, I began making them myself.
I hope these fish invite a little more wonder into your everyday life and remind you of the strange, beautiful, and endlessly fascinating natural world around us. Most of all, I hope they inspire you to cook something beautiful and gather around the table with friends or family.
